Etapa 1: Madrid – San Sebastián – San Juan de Luz

Salimos con ilusión, con ganas de Francia, la desconocida o la mil veces vista, con ganas de descubrir cada árbol, cada nube o cada omelette… y lo primero que hicimos, cuando aún no habíamos recorrido 200 kilómetros desde Madrid es parar y hacernos fotos con el mítico Toro de Osborne, aquel que nos repintó el paisaje de nuestra infancia y de nuestro país. Ese precisamente ha sido el primer compañero de viaje, como si antes de llegar a Francia tuviéramos que afianzar nuestra españolidad. Y algo de eso debía de haber en nuestro subconsciente porque la segunda parada ha sido para comer en Milagros unas maravillosas morcillas y unos torreznos de campeonato.

Cargados de hidratos de carbono y tan felices hemos llegado a San Sebastián, que no puede ser mas bonita, incluso con tanta gente que se ha tirado a las calles donostiarras que La Concha, estaba irreconocible. Pero siempre bella.

Desde allí, unos pocos kilómetros más para llegar al final de la primera etapa: San Juan de Luz, un pueblo lleno de rincones, música, colores diferentes, agua y aires hispanos en sus casas, en sus mentes…. tanto, que nos hospedamos en el Hotel Txoko, nuestra habitación se llama Iruña, oímos castellano enredándose con el francés o el euskera y la gente se pasea con un cucurucho de churros o se mete de aperitivo unos pimientos del piquillo. Nosotros hemos cenado unos moules, mejillones con patatas fritas para irnos integrando. Quieren que nos vayamos haciendo a las Galias poco a poco.

Con el sonido de una orquestina de verano en la plaza de San Juan de Luz, vamos dibujando el mañana: Arcachon, La Duna de Pilat y la gran ciudad de Burdeos. Y el agua del Garona bañándola.
